A practical guide to the standards, approval pathways and model-specific documents used when buying certified safety shoes and boots.

Make the material serve the risk.
A standard name is only the starting point. Professional procurement also checks the edition, protection class, optional markings, certificate holder, model reference and validity of the supporting document.
RHINO SHOE models are tested and certified for different national and international markets. Because approval scope is model-specific, buyers should request the current technical data sheet and certificate rather than assume every model carries every marking.

Malaysian workplaces requiring approved foot PPE
DOSH/JKKP approval depends on SIRIM testing/product certification and is model-specific. Buyers also search “SIRIM–DOSH approved safety shoes”.
Selected RHINO SHOE models carry current SIRIM certification and DOSH approval numbers; request the exact approval letter.
Singapore: SS 513
Singapore workplace safety footwear
SS 513-1:2024 is the current safety-footwear edition. Earlier RHINO certificates may correctly reference SS 513:2013 for that certified model.

EN ISO 20345
European and widely specified international projects
ISO 20345:2021 with Amendment 1:2024 is current internationally; European marking commonly cites EN ISO 20345:2022+A1:2024.
Current RHINO designs include configurations tested to EN ISO 20345:2022 classes; confirm the exact model marking.
ASTM F2413
US safety-toe footwear and North American OEM briefs
ASTM F2413-18 remains in many specifications, while ASTM F2413-24 is the current active edition. The purchase specification must state the required edition and hazard markings.
OEM projects can be developed around ASTM testing, marking and documentation agreed for the destination market.
Thailand / Philippines
Local tenders and regulated procurement
Thailand uses TIS 523-2564 for leather safety footwear; Philippine procurement references PNS ISO 20345. Scope and edition must be checked.
